Sensei Gene Webster, Nidan and owner of Freedom Judo, earned the rank of Black Belt in 1997 and began teaching shortly thereafter. A USJA certified coach and class “C” referee, Sensei Gene coached the 2004 and 2005 USJA Judo Player of the Year.
As a J. Frank Dobie graduate and one of the original Sagemont/South Belt area residents, Sensei Gene has deep ties to his home-town and is dedicated to making champions of his students.

One of the principles of judo is that a stronger opponent can be defeated by turning his strength against himself. For that reason, anyone can excel in Judo, no matter their age, size or gender.

Classes are available at Freedom Judo for all ages, young and old alike. Junior level students start as young as the age of 5 and senior level has no maximum age limit.

Literally, "gentle way", referring to giving way in order to gain victory. |
